As part of Fingal Head Coastcare’s environmental program, Fingal Head Public School has been propogating and revegetating forests and dunes on the Fingal Peninsula since 1998.
Jess Strickland, teacher at Sathya Sai College, said, "I have worked along side Fingal Coast Care for the past 3 years with my Year 2 classes. Their dedication to restoring the land is incredible. They involve students in the regeneration process, educating and providing hands on experiences and activities. My students have loved being a part of creating the Fingal rainforest, it is a highlight of our year!"
Riley W, TAFE student, said, "I enjoyed doing the Fingal Head Coastcare because I am already interested in agriculture so planting trees is enjoyable."
Alex Brown, Growing Coastal, said, “A beautiful session! The planting with Kate and team was a great follow up for the children that visited last year and got to plant trees they had seeded. The session with coast care was very well organised and we are very lucky to have such an amazing partnership with them to aid ours and the children’s learning. Preschool - I did a small group in the OR garden to plant some plants and it was so amazing to see Lewis transferring the knowledge and skills he learnt at GC on Monday with Kate into the session as he told his partner where they needed to hold the plant and they followed the steps of putting water in the hole first - Lewis and Lexi managed to plant their tree with no guidance or support needed from an educator. (I think this would be awesome to share with Kate seeing as her work is having such a positive impact on these children’s learning). Thanks for all your amazing work Kate

The Heart Folk group planting in the rainforest

Students from the Singapore American School visited FHC recently. They listened to Kate talk about our history, did some planting, gathered Glory Lily flowers and seed capsules, plus more. And on the headland, they were absolutely entranced by dolphins!
